<div>This fight is about Kaiser ignoring laws that say as a healthcare provider they are required to treat the provision of mental health and substance abuse treatment services with the same priority and resource support as medical/surgical services. A lead KP Health Plan executive has stated to staff and media that chronic and current mental health staff shortage "is not about the money. We have the money. We just can't find the workers." In actuality, despite a nationwide shortage, there are many in HI, and across the country who are available to provide needbut cannot take care of their families on pay being offered, and with KP wanting to decrease healthcare benefits.
