Jennifer’s Medical Expenses

My sister Jennifer went to the ER Tuesday night (12/5) with severe neck and head pain. She was misdiagnosed and sent home. Within hours it progressed and she had a seizure, once the seizure stopped she was completely unresponsive. Thankfully my mom was with her and dialed 911. She was taken to Deaconess. (1am Wednesday) They immediately did an MRI and found a large brain aneurysm behind her right eye. They made the decision at 9:30 am to Life Flight her to Seattle where she would receive specialized care. The location and size of her aneurysm was rare. Upon arrival (5p Wednesday) they drained fluid and my sister was able to speak. They did further testing (Thurs 12/7) and decided the safest thing to do was to bypass the aneurysm. This was a very long and major surgery. They started at 8am Friday and didn’t stop till 9pm. We were given not so good news that her brain was still too swollen and they couldn’t finish the surgery.  They kept her fully sedated, breathing tube in till noon Saturday(12/9).  She is awake now and doing surprisingly well! The Doctors and nurses are very happy with her progress. She is able to eat and talk. They anticipate a full recovery as long as she doesn’t have any brain spasms. She has 2 surgeries remaining, one to finish clamping off the aneurysm and in 2 weeks they plan to reattach the bone they removed from her skull. She has to be at the hospital in Seattle for 3 more weeks. She has an amazing team of specialist working hard to get her healed. Although a full recovery from a brain aneurysm is very very very rare, the doctors are optimistic for her. It will be many weeks, possibly months before she can drive or go to work. I started a GoFund me to help her with both medical and living expenses. She recently bought a home for her and her son. We love her so much and are doing as much as we can to help her in every way.
