Memories of Mark Booton

Donation protected
'Good morning, Mr Booton, Good morning, All'

It's probably a phrase that some of you had said while Mr Booton was teaching. After all, Mark Booton has spent almost 40 years teaching in Derby.

With heavy hearts, we have to share the news that Mark sadly passed away on Monday, 20th June 2022, surrounded by his loving wife, Clare, and three children, Stephen, Kevin and Louise.

After a battle with cancer, Mark passed away with dignity and remained his respectful self until the very end, ensuring he always thanked the staff taking care of him.

The family have asked that donations be made in memory of Mark. Your contributions will ensure Mark's memory lives on by supporting three organisations close to Mark's heart.

Macmillan Nightingale Ward - Royal Derby Hospital
Mark's final weeks were spent among the loving and supportive staff of the Nightingale Ward at the Royal Derby Hospital. He was cared for dearly and respected by the team (including those that knew him from his teaching days), which we know brought him great comfort during his final weeks.

The donations we receive will go to the ongoing support the ward provides.

Saint Albans Catholic Church - The Memorial Garden - Derby
Mark has been an icon in the Church community. He organised seating layouts, helped as a catechist and was the dame in pantos, among many other activities.

Despite Mark's illness, he continued to show his dedication to St Albans and the Catholic faith as he watched the first Holy Communion service from his hospital bed just the day before he passed away.

Any donations would go towards the memorial garden at the church.

Saint Albans Catholic Primary School - School Chapel - Derby
You may be part of the family Mark created at Saint Alban's school during his years within the school community. Mark spent many years dedicated to the education and development of countless young people and was an inspiration to his colleagues who had the honour of working alongside him.

The donations for the school will go towards their plans of converting Mark's former office into a school chapel.

Mark was gentle and caring, focusing purely on children's happiness. He would delight anyone with magic, knowledge about Wales or practical jokes.

While Mark did love his garden, we request donations be made rather than flowers. We hope you join us in showing our support to the places Mark held dear and keep his memory alive.

If you would like to share your memories of Mark, please get in touch with us via the 'contact' button below.

Although Mark has left us, he joins his parents, Molly and Christopher, his wife, Helen, and his son, Adrian.

Thank you for being so supportive at this difficult time.

Clare, Stephen, Kevin and Louise
