Ntivo: Mobile Arts and Cultural Center

Artists Eddy and Ines haul their homemade trailer-home from colonia to colonia providing free art workshops to children in Tijuana, Mexico. Their mobile workshop, NTIVO, is a labor of love. Despite a lack of equipment and transport, they offer creative outlets to marginalized and traumatized youth. Many of these children live in crowded, poverty-stricken communities along the San Ysidro border. The art that the children produce offers a rare glimpse into their experiences through their own perspectives.
NTIVO is a mobile arts workshop in Tijuana, Mexico. This portable center for artistic and cultural creation works with the most vulnerable populations in Tijuana, including migrant youth.
NTIVO creates artistic practices in public spaces for collective use, and promotes sustainable structures and social ties. NTIVO proposes an alternative version of cultural institutions by carrying out cultural practices through its portable and ephemeral infrastructure.
NTIVO works in highly marginalized regions with high rates of poverty and crime. The art workshops invoke coexistence activities that stimulate community participation in the care and maintenance of communal spaces.
NTIVO promotes children’s cultural development and a strengthening of cultural heritage through the production of visual art, music, media art, and literature.
PLEASE SUPPORT NTIVO by donating here. NTIVO needs funds to 1. purchase a vehicle for broader mobility, 2. cultivate a children’s library, and 3. purchase more media-making equipment for the kids.
The kids NTIVO works with are not going to school and some families are scared to place their children in school for fear of deportation. With your help, NTIVO can purchase books in order to teach some of the children to read and write.
