Help homeless on the streets of Toronto. Our shelters are a good start, unfortunately, some homeless don't have shelter every night and have to sleep on the streets during very cold times (this resulted in almost 100 deaths in 2017 - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/homeless-deaths-toronto-public-health-1.4509218). The reason I'm raising money is to give back to the community that has provided us so much. We should be incredibly grateful for what we have, we should be giving to the people who really need us.
What will the funds be used for?
- sleeping bags, pillows, sleeping pads, and yoga mats, etc.
- donated blankets & comforters & pillows will be going to homeless shelters
3 ways to contribute: (1) Provide funds for the above items through GoFundMe - on the weekends leading up, will be purchasing the above items from value village, dollar store and other places (*Change - as per the recommendation of the shelters, sleeping bags are the necessity for those outside so that they are able to carry them around); (2) provide old items that you aren't using anymore (blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, sleeping pads, yoga mats, linens, comforters, duvets - the stuff that can be carried by the homeless will be provided) - send me an email @ [email redacted] and I'll pick them up wherever is convenient for you; or (3) drop me a message to help distribute on December 16. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
- December 16th - the locations of the homeless areas has been provided by homeless shelters;
- Dependent on how much funding we receive, I'll be going to homeless shelters and those that get turned away, the above items will be going to them (this may happen over multiple nights);
I'm grateful for any support you can provide!
Appreciate any assistance,
