I am Minori, an animation student at San Jose State University. I have one more year until graduation but currently having severe financial issues to continue my education and I need your support!
First of all, thank you Hsiu-Hsiu Lin for making the animatic for this and pushing me to launch this page. For the longest time, I was doubtful whether I should make this because I thought it would be selfish of me if I ask people for donations to stay in school, especially because of such expensive tuitions.
However, having been encouraged by my friends who really made me feel wanted here, I am finally launching this page. Please help me spread this. Meanwhile, I will keep looking into some other solutions (loans/scholarships) as well. Or if you could provide me any helpful information, I would appreciate it a lot too.
When I first got accepted to the school, it was one of my dream-come-true. I can finally learn animation with people who have as much passion as I have!!
After completing my first semester, however, my family faced financial issues, and couldn't continue to support my education here anymore. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any solutions to this at the time, I took a leave of absence from school, and started working full-time hoping to gain stable financials to get back to school.
Having worked two and a half years, which was the maximum duration that was allowed from school, I managed to go back in 2018. It's been great studying here once again. I made new friends who are very talented, supportive, and inspirational. I really wish to keep studying with them and hopefully work on a thesis project together during BFA year, but this may not happen for me. Working full-time over 2 years did help me get back to school, didn't get me enough funds for the final year.
What I will do with the fund:
I will use all the money donated to pay for my tuition,
keep up with on school work and develop my artistic talents and animation skills,
work on a short film project that will connect people who have different cultures and values,
and share the completed film by mid-May, 2021.
I will be sharing my work on every social media account so people who have donated to me can see my progress.
Here is my portfolio website where you can see what I have worked on at San Jose so far.
I will also promise to pay back every individual whom I can reach out to the amount they have donated to me little by little once I get e job and pay it forward for other fundraisers.
You can either donate from this page or donate to me through Venmo or PayPal (Both USD and JPY).
Thank you for your time reading this!
