To My Family and Friends
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian Cancer in 2013. It was shortly afterwards that I made the decision to retire early and move closer to my “home”, which prompted me to move from Moreno Valley, California to Syracuse, Indiana. My intentions were to move here alone, but a turn of event happened and Ana and the boys came too.
My journey, as some of you know, has been a rocky road. My cancer remained dormant for a year, but in October of 2015 it was back again. I, once again, went through chemo and did all that was expected of me. Again, I was able to tolerate the treatment for 4 months. My blood counts have continued to stay below normal.
Last month I was given a PET scan which showed the cancer has moved to other places in my body. I was not surprised partially because I had been told my cancer would come back and with a vengeance. With the locations of my cancer cells another chemo protocol was recommended. The chemo made me sick, I spent the whole week sick, not eating, and sleeping. I was going to bed praying. I was praying, and in my mind trying to make amends to those who I have wrongfully hurt. Those who I haven’t spent enough time with, or checked on them. I asked forgiveness for the times I was insensitive, impatient and spoke ill of people. I made amends with God too asking forgiveness for not always putting Him first in my life. I would talk to Him and let Him know I’m at peace, and if it be His Will, I’m ready to come home.
As my last wish, I would like the opportunity to spend some time with my family and friends. I would like to come back to California to go to an amusement park with the boys, go to the ocean, hopefully make a trip to San Francisco and Santa Cruz. As some of you know, I have been trying to get in contact with my son whom I haven’t been able to talk to for almost 3 years. I would like to spend some time with my friends and family individually.
Closer to home, my wish would be to go to Niagara Falls, on New York side with the boys, Ana and Mat. It would be something everyone would enjoy and would be something memorable for the boys.
I would like to take a trip to Wisconsin to finally meet my sister, Cindy for the first time, and possibly the last time. I’d like to be able to leave this earth knowing I finally got to meet her after all these years of us trying to connect, even before Gabe died.
I would like to make a trip to Ferdinand to see a dear friend of mine Sr. Doris Marie, and hopefully be able to spend a couple of days with her, and if time allows for her to come back here to spend a few days with me.
I have asked God to watch over my children, family and friends. I pray my children will be with someone that will love them and care about them the way their dad did. I pray these days that are left will be happy and filled with love.
