Service Dog For Kayson
We adopted Kayson at the age of 1 Kayson is now 4 years old. Kayson was born with exposure to drugs and alcohol. He has a Diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Kayson has permanent brain damage. FASD can leave an individual with neurological, behavioral, emotional, and physical impairments. One of the effects of Kayson's disability is that he has no impulse control and an inability to understand personal danger. He has absolutely no sense of stranger danger. Kayson also likes to run, Once out of the house he is gone like flash. A service dog would help keep Kayson safe by alerting us if Kayson was to get out of the house. While out with Kayson he would be tethered to the service dog to prevent him from running. The service dog would also provide Deep Pressure Therapy due to sensory processing issues, or calm him when there is too much stimulation. The Service dog would help Kayson keep focused and on task. Even though he is an intelligent little boy, he has slow cognitive processing and poor memory in some areas. Developmentally Kayson is behind his peers.
"FASD is a lifelong disability that affects the brain and body of people who were exposed to alcohol in the womb. Each person with FASD has both strengths and challenges and will need special supports to help them succeed with many different parts of their daily lives.
Kayson will be receiving his service dog from Erieview Service Dogs. The cost of a fully trained service dog starts at about $10,000. with the covid-19 we are unable to hold a fundraising dance or golf tournament.
Every little bit helps! Please consider making a donation and taking a part in helping Kayson become more independent and to reach his full potential, and giving all of us peace of mind.
