Initially, with many surgeries and struggles over the following months, his ankle was rebuilt and all was looking positive.
Then sadly Doug developed an infection in the bone which was a huge set back for him after all he had been through in the previous months. In April of this year, it was decided that amputation below the knee was going to be the best option in order to give Doug the best chance of getting through the rest of his life, within time, drug and pain-free.
We are all very proud of the adjustment he has made to live with a prosthetic leg and is making wonderful progress.
This being said, being recently unemployed at the time of his accident meant that he didn't have any medical benefits or insurance. As I'm sure you can imagine, the Medical bills have rapidly stacked up and the cost of living must continue regardless. Bills don't stop even when tragedy strikes! Gaining employment again since his accident has been a struggle what with his health and rehabilitation being the paramount priority. This is something we all know that Doug is very keen to get back to, not just financially but to continue to make progress in every aspect of his life.
He has an amazing daughter Chloe who he continues to support always, and his girlfriend, Natalie, has been a pillar of strength through it all.
Doug is a Veteran having served our country, a hard worker, a loving father & Partner and above all else, a fantastic and supportive friend to all that know him.
In recognition of that, we want to give back and try and help support Doug and Natalie with the financial strain of mounting Medical bills and living costs. Let's all pull together like we always do when a friend is in need. Every dollar helps!! Thank you to all of you in advance. I know how much this will mean to them.
