Hurricane Laura Family Emergency
Donation protected
On Wednesday August, 26th Hurricane Laura hit the Lake Charles, LA area leaving our sister Kendra and her children Kiara and Philip homeless. We are extremely grateful that they were lucky enough to evacuate to Shreveport and were able to ride out the storm in a hotel. They did go back to their mobile home on Friday to learn that it has severe water damage and holes in the roof. The owner of the mobile home park has decided that it is easier for them to close the park and demolish the homes than to repair them. They are currently sheltering in New Orleans with FEMA’s assistance. While her job is “safe” she is not getting paid while not working and they will need to find a new rental. We would like to be able to help her with the deposits and a couple months of rent while she gets back on her feet. All funds will be distributed directly by her sisters to her new landlord/rental company and if there is any excess we will purchase gift cards for big box stores to help replace belongings and purchase food. We know this year has been challenging for all and know that everyone has their challenges. We humbly ask if you can support our sister, niece and nephew in any way we would be forever grateful. Thank you for your kindness. With Gratitude Nancy Ham and Karen Foster.
