Dadʻs Funeral Expenses

Aloha my name is JD Pōmaika'i "Pomai" Puli. My mom and I recently lost our beloved husband and dad, the late Reverend David Napuaelua Puli on Monday Janaury 29th. He was affectately known as Uncle "Bully" by family, friends, and loved ones. Dad worked as a truck driver transporting equipment for the original Hawai'i 5-0 and Magnum PI from 1968-1988.  Since then, dad continued to drive as a tour bus driver until his recent passing. On his tours, he insisted that passengers refer to him as cousin David, making them feel as if they were a part of his ohana. 

Rev. Puli was a devoted servant of God. He was an ordained minister of Ka Makua Mau Loa Church (the Church of the Living God) for almost 40 years, beginning in July of 1977. Serving God was his priority and one of the most important things in his life. Helping Godʻs people was a 24 hour job for dad. Some of the most common things that he continued to teach and say were, "Go to God" , "Make sure you say your prayer",  and "Keep on trucking with the Lord".

Dad always worked his hardest, did his best, and made my mom and myself the happiest people on this earth. He was a commited worker in his physical and spiritual jobs putting others needs and wants before his own. My father never wanted to burden mom or myself with anything. After working a 9 hour shift, then going to help Gods people in his spiritual work, he often insisted that he was able to drive despite how tired he was. He would often tell mom, "Nah no worry, I can!".

My fathers time on earth is a memory I will hold close to my heart and cherish forever. I pray that I can continue his legacy by following in his footsteps and the amazing examples he has displayed throughout my life. Dads death was sudden and definetly unexpected, however we know he is home with the Lord.
