Noxie Noodle Needs our Help!

Nox, Waffy + Tug’s best friend and a beloved member of the Berner Brigade, needs our help.

This past week, Nox started acting off and stopped eating or drinking – something very uncharacteristic for this sweet boy. He also started throwing up, so Nox’s parents, my dear friends Stratton and Rachel, took him to the vet. They ran an Xray but didn’t find anything other than signs of early arthritis, so they sent him home with antibiotics hoping it was simply an infection.

Nox had a fever all night and Rachel and Stratton didn’t know if he would make it the night but amazingly, he did. In the morning, though, he wouldn’t eat – even to take the meds – so they went back to the vet.

His fever had gone up, and they ran another X-ray and did a belly tap. The belly tap showed pus, a sign of infection, so they took him to an ultrasound to get a better picture of what was happening. On the ultrasound, they were able to see a mass.

They then rushed him into surgery. We don’t know if the mass is cancer or a foreign body, but the first step is to remove the mass successfully.

If sweet Nox survives the surgery, he will need to stay in the hospital for 2-4 days. Based on what the mass is, we will then know if he needs chemotherapy or any other type of follow-up care.

As of today, Nox’s parents, Rachel and Stratton, have spent over 9,000 dollars on his care. The cost estimates keep climbing and Nox needs our help now.
