Nox is Very Sick
Donation protected
Nox is being admitted to Cornell to find out what is making her so sick. Her fever is very high. Her bloodwork is showing bone marrow suppression. She could have a tick borne illness, immune disorder, or the big C word. We've just emptied our bank account and maxed our CareCredit to admit her with a deposit of $2500. We likely need a lot more. We don't like asking for help, but we are more than grateful for anything anyone can do. We don't want to lose our Noxy Bear. She's the goodest girl.
Another Nox Update:
She may need a 2nd bone marrow aspiration. The results of the first bone marrow aspiration doesn't show signs of cancer or an immune mediated process, but that can change.
She may need a blood transfusion so we can aspirate her liver and spleen. Her platelets are so low she is at risk for pneumonia, sepsis, and spontaneous bleeding of her lungs and brain, which makes the aspirations VERY risky, even with the transfusion.
They are trying to get stool and urine samples, but she hasn't eaten in 5 days and is living off of IV fluids.
She is on 2 very strong antibiotics but may need more.
She may also need an echo to check her heart. She has a small murmur.
We made a deposit of $2500. All of what has been done so far puts our total over $2900. We need to place another deposit tomorrow, but we aren't sure how much until we find out what care happens overnight and what the next steps are after more bloodwork tomorrow.
Cornell advised that our $5k estimate only covers us until about Friday. If her fever isn't getting better and her bloodwork doesn't improve, we expect she needs to stay longer. Their estimate is that it is about $1000 each day she is there. We desperately need any help we can get. We appreciate all of you. So much.
