On Sunday, February 11, 2018 Allison and TJ's lives were completely flipped upside down. After feeling under the weather since Christmas time, Allison and TJ decided to take Allison to a local urgent care. Allison was quickly sent to the Emergency Room where it was confirmed that Allison was quite sick and needed to be emergently transferred down to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Allison was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and was placed in the ICU for immediate intervention. Since then, Allison was able to move out of the ICU and has been receiving her chemotherapy treatment and supportive therapies at Froedert Hospital.
AML is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It affects a type of white blood cells (myeloid cells) which would typically develop into red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
Allison will likely be in the hospital for 30 days for this first round of chemotherapy and the rest of her treatment plan is yet to be determined.
As you can imagine this has been quite a whirlwind for TJ and Allison and their family as they navigate through this difficult diagnosis and taking care of their adorable three year old twins.
Many people have asked what they can do to help. We believe by starting a Go Fund Me page, we can raise funds to help support whatever needs they may have in the coming months (medical bills, travel costs, lost wages, etc.)
