Nova Mock Trial has earned the opportunity to compete at the Empire Invitational in New York City. Can you help send these hard-working teens to take on the best in the world?
The 12-person team from a small high school in St. Paul, Minn., is preparing to compete at the Empire World Championships in New York City, Oct. 23-27, 2014. Empire is the world’s most prestigious high school competition, bringing together top teams from across the country and the globe. Just being invited is an honor, and Nova is the first Minnesota team and the first charter school to ever compete there.
Nova Classical Academy's high school has fewer than 200 students, yet it forms as many as seven mock trial teams in a season. No one is turned away. The school fielded its first team only four years ago, but it has already won a state championship (2013).
In addition to making significant personal contributions, these students and their parents are working hard to raise needed money, holding garage sales and book drives, selling gift cards, etc. But the cost of traveling to New York City is daunting, and they need a helping hand.
All donations will fund students' transportation, lodging, food and other materials needed for Empire.
