On Saturday August 18th, our sister Nary lost her 7 year long battle with Lupus. She had been fighting against the nasty disease since she was diagnosed in 2011 with class II Lupus Nephritis. Although she overcame a lot of obstacles that came with the disease, this last fight was all her body could handle. On May 16, just two days after her 25th birthday, she was admitted into Mercy Hospital in Janesville with acute kidney injury, respiratory failure and 1 gram per day proteinuria (protein in urine). She underwent numerous tests and treatments but unfortunately with every step forward, she developed more complications that brought her three steps back. However, she wasn't giving up. She continued to fight everyday she was there. After a month as inpatient at Mercy with slow improvement, our family made the decision to transfer her to UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison on June 15th for a more appropriate treatment. While at UW Hospital, she was maintained on intermittent hemodialysis and later found to be positive for CMV viremia. With ongoing medication and treatments, her clinical condition improved to the point where she was able to be transferred to Select Specialty Hospital in stable condition on July 23rd. There she had physical therapy daily and made significant progress. On August 8th, our family received great news that she was getting discharged and was finally going home!!! She didn't waste any time trying to get back into the world. She had planned a big family gathering for August 18th as her "welcome home" celebration. She wanted everyone there and all her favorite foods. Unfortunately, the morning of the gathering, her health took a turn for the worst. She was rushed to the hospital but there wasn't much more they could do. Her heart had stopped several times while there despite extensive treatments. Although we weren't ready to let her go, she was. She fought one heck of a battle and we are all proud of her for that. Now with the untimely loss, we are trying to plan the end-of-life celebration that she deserves. Which finally brings us to the point of this message. We are asking for your support. Any donation amount will help. If you are unable to donate, that's OK, we understand. We then only ask that you say a prayer to help us get through this. We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support we've received already. We really do appreciate it and only hope that with time, things will get easier. Thank you for taking the time to read this. God bless. The Nou Family
