Not today stroke

HI guys!
Many of you know on Oct. 9th I suffered a stroke that left me with left side paralysis. It remains unknown the degree of how bad or how long.

Also as many of you know I am nothing if not stubborn and determined. I am refusing to let it be worst case scenario.  I have been working hard at rehab and home to recover and I am making great progress.

I went from not being able to stand on my own, to walking with support, to walking on my own, to transitioning to walking with a less aggressive brace and cane, and soon nothing at all .

Arms, are slower and trickier to re train, I have started to get some shoulder movement, some help moving at just the elbow, and i can occasionally squeeze  4 of 5 of my  fingers. Spasticity, has started to grow. This is when the signals from your brain to arm arent responding and have no where to go so the cause increased tone and stiffness, making it difficult to move, even with help.  My doctors arent currently worried, but this can cause delays in recovery.

the first 6 months-12 months after a stroke are crucial to recovery. So i am making use of every tool available.  The internet and Youtube are great resources, in exercise that can help.  which brings me to why I considered asking people for help.

Someone in a Stroke recovery blog I am reading recommending looking into something called FitMi. FitMi was designed specifically to help people with a neurologic injury improve their strength and dexterity. It is an at home therapy Kit. It uses wireless devices that are designed to help the individual in each stage of recovery.

At most, I can only get 3 one hour sessions a week, for physical/ occupational therapy( last week I only got one of each )which isnt enough time. I spend time looking things up, but its hard to gage if i am doing something correct or if its whats best for me.  The key to rewiring your brain is repetition(think of how many times you sang your ABC's until you learned them) this device is suppose to help with that. And take the time I am not at therapy and allow me to keep working hard!

Like all new gadgets, its costly.  The bundle I would like to get is between $550-$650 depending on sales, an amount we just dont have. Since this is not a prescription thing, insurance wont cover it. So I am swallowing my pride and asking for help.  If you cant donate, please share. If you cant share, please send good thoughts my way.

Thank you all for reading.
