<div>Some of you are already aware, back in March I was diagnosed with the most aggressive of all brain tumours, Glioblastoma, which is currently incurable.

<div>I've had several months of treatment now with varying degrees of success. I remain positive as always but I am not kidding myself, I continue to have a battle on my hands to improve my prognosis.

<div>It is at this stage that I have decided to go more public with this information and feels appropriate to do so during Glioblastoma Awareness week.

<div>I want to be on the front foot with starting to raise funds so I can access ground breaking treatment either in the UK or abroad that is not readily available via the NHS or medical insurance. And naturally I remain hopeful that there may be a cure around the corner with AI playing a greater roll in speedier advances.

<div>The plan will be to put on some events so lots of friends &amp; colleagues can get involved (without doubt involving a bike ride !) but in the meantime I have set up this GoFund Me page so if you feel like starting the ball rolling then I would very much appreciate the support.

<div>Glioblastoma (sometimes called GBM) is the most common type of brain cancer in adults. This type of tumour is formed from the support cells of the brain known as glial cells.
</div>

<div>• Around 3,200 people are diagnosed with glioblastoma every year in the UK
</div>

</div>
<div>• Just one third of those diagnosed with a glioblastoma will survive beyond a year
</div>

<div>• Just 4% of those diagnosed will survive five years or more
</div>

<div>• The average survival for someone diagnosed with glioblastoma is 12-18 months
</div>

<div>Despite these stark facts, there have been no new treatments for glioblastoma approved since 2005. These fast-growing and highly aggressive tumours are incredibly challenging to treat due to their complex nature. They are diffused, meaning the tumours cells invade healthy areas of the brain and, even when removed by surgery, glioblastoma will always come back.
