Not Just Baps - Dotty Dinner

Hello, I’m Lisa Hope from Not Just Baps, which is small catering company based in Owlsmoor, Sandhurst, delivering homemade meals within the local area. Coming up to Christmas 2019 we organised a Christmas Dinner meal to be delivered to elderly/disabled people on their own Christmas Day. This was in memory of my Mum who sadly gained her angel wings Christmas Day 2017 so I called it ‘Dotty Dinner’. Lots of people gave donations to sponsor a meal for them which was very much appreciated as this would now be a free meal being delivered. With the help of volunteer drivers we delivered 24 meals Christmas Day and have made such a difference already to a lot of people.
One lovely lady telephoned me later that day to thank me for her meal and told me it was her first hot dinner in years!!! I was astonished to think this happens but it turns out after speaking to other elderly people there’s a lot of them that don’t have regular hot meals!
There was money left over from the sponsorship, plus more donations which has enabled us to look after some more elderly this month, we have already delivered 15 dinners. Some of their stories are real tear jerkers; it has made such a difference to them just having someone to talk to as most of them don’t see or hear from anyone for days; one lovely person told me that they had considered taking their life a few years ago as they were so lonely but thankfully they didn’t and they now have a much brighter outlook on life.
I would love to be able to keep this ongoing so have set the target of £1,500.00 as this will give 20 elderly/disabled people a hot homemade meal 3 times a week for 5 weeks.
