I saw women and children walking up to 60 kilometers a day for a few sips of dirty, unsafe water. This struggle stole the health, education, and dignity of thousands in the region. I witnessed families lose their entire livelihood—their animals—a loss that forces them into a desperate, constant search for survival that too often leads to conflict.

<div>A single, well-managed borehole with a hand pump can serve 300 to 500 people. The total cost for a fully-equipped borehole is between KES 1.2 million and KES 3 million (£6,870 to £17,200). This covers the hydrogeological survey, drilling a 100-meter well, and a sustainable solar pump.
