The COVID-19 crisis changed our world overnight. As an independent restaurant operating on a thin margin, Nostrana & Enoteca Nostrana had no choice but to temporarily lay off our staff, including management. We decided to cease operations for the safety of our workers and our community. Soon after the state mandated all restaurants cease dine-in operations, 100% of our income. We acted with a moral imperative to protect lives and flatten the curve. Now we urgently seek resources to continue assisting our employees with healthcare. So we turn to you, the Nostrana community, for a donation today to help our workers.
We also have especially vulnerable staff who may not be eligible for UI benefits or other safety nets to break their fall. We're doing everything in our power to take care of our family, as best we can.
All funds raised will go to directly support our workers and their healthcare and well-being. This is not a bailout for Nostrana, it's help for our people.

Nostrana has been a Portland institution since Cathy and David started it nearly 15 years ago. We've held our values close to our hearts ever since. We do this because we love cooking together, supporting local producers, serving our community with great food, wine, company, and comfort. We have risen to the opportunity to raise money for disaster-relief efforts over the years, and help wherever we can.
Making profit would be nice, but we invest nearly all of our income back into the people and place we love so much. We have provided health plans, retirement account matching, paid sick leave, and good wages. All of which puts us in a vulnerable place right now.
We dearly hope to get to a better position to support our crew and bring the Nostrana family back together when this crisis is over. Until then, please consider even a small donation to let our family know you care.
