Amenities for Northwest Pool
Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for the 2018 swim season at Northwest Pool in Austin, TX.
To prepare for the 2018 swim season, we collected suggestions from you and from guards at the pool for amenities that should improve the pool experience and help retain lifeguards.
The main amenity is a pool vacuum that would stay at Northwest Pool for the entire swim season. It's called the Hammer Head II and with it, we'll be able to keep the bottom of the pool as sparkling clean as the water. Specifications: https://www.hammerheadvac.com/#specs
Here's another view:
Other amenities include: refrigerator, microwave, high-backed chair for the cashier, cooling fans, lights for the closet in the back of the guard house, and more.
The vacuum has a MSRP of about $2600. The other amenities will probably cost less than $500 (and we'll consider donations as well).
Any money we raise over and above what we need will be donated toward another worthy goal such as the aquatics scholarship program or swim gear for the Montopolis swim team (pull buoys, lane dividers, kickboards, and so on). Our funds will be donated to the Austin Parks Foundation, which is leading the effort to provide these essentials to the deserving kids at Montopolis.
Please give as much as you can toward these worthy goals.
And by the way, if you're asking yourself "Why doesn't the City of Austin provide these amenities?", the answer is, the city can't currently maintain the necessities of the pools, much less provide expensive things like a vacuum. To find out how you can help, send an e-mail to this GoFundMe campaign.
Note: This fundraiser is not tax-deductible.
