People everywhere could use some uplifting. The negative bias and drama-driven news media take a toll on mental health. I want to capture thought-provoking images that depict happiness and contentment, showing people engaged in an endeavor that brings them satisfaction. My goal is that people who see these images will receive a sense of hope, and encouragement to find ways to live that enhance their sense of well-being.
Having been born and raised in Cleveland, I wanted to focus the project close to home, to reinforce what’s beautiful about staying in one’s own backyard.
November project update: Portra 400 film stock was generously provided by Kodak Professional. 10 gardens were photographed from July to October, and the project is now entering the next phase: processing film.
Funds will be used to cover film processing, scanning, taxes and shipping, fuel, and incidentals involved in production. Funds raised above the goal will aid in future marketing efforts and artist compensation.
Your support will enable me to produce the project on film, in high-quality, and research the best arenas to showcase the work to reach people. I intend to seek display in galleries, book options, etc., with the goal of sharing a positively-oriented photography project with as many people as possible.
As a full-time artist for 15 years, I have learned that in difficult times, the one thing that is never restricted is creativity.
Thank you for considering this project.
