We are a small group of individuals who volunteer to help feral cat colonies in North County of San Luis Obispo. These are cats that have been abandoned or born from stray/abandoned cats that were not spayed or neutered by their original owner. We manage multiple colonies in Santa Margarita and Atascadero. Through our efforts, we have humanely trapped and spayed/neutered almost all of the cats in these colonies, and we continue to trap the new ones that are dumped or abandoned that have not yet been neutered. This is the best way to manage the overpopulation of cats in our area. Through trap/neuter/release (TNR), we stop the breeding of more cats and help these animals live better quality lives. By providing daily food and fresh water, we also keep them from getting sick and spreading disease. We also oversee their wellbeing which includes providing medical care when possible. Flea treatments are used on the cats we are able to approach as well as worming or antibiotics when needed. There are many services available to domestic cats in our area, but the feral cats are left to fend for themselves. Through our efforts, these cats are given the care they need to live healthy lives. All of our costs come out of pocket including food, spay/neuter, and all medical care. Your donation will help provide these things so that we can continue keeping these cats healthy while reducing the overpopulation of stray and homeless cats in our area.
