North Woods Coat Drive: Operation Keep Em Warm

UPDATE; We have reached our goal for this fundraiser. Thank you for all who donated, and we will be giving away all of the cold weather gear that we have purchased on Saturday December 18th at Mill Park in Augusta, Maine from 10 to 4.

Every year we (North Woods Outlaws) collect coats from mid Novemberuntil mid December in the Augusta, Maine area. We then host a pop up event on Water Street in downtown Augusta to give away all of our donations. This year we are teaming up with B98.5(Cooper Fox), and Roger's Racing Metal Fab and Automotive to bring a little more to our event this year.

In 2020 we collected/purchased over 100 coats and gave away roughly 80 of them at our pop up event on the fence line between Bond Street and Laurel Street. All remaining coats get donated to local shelters and group home settings. In addition to coats, we took in donations of new hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, snow suits and more!

We have also made hot cocoa for everyone and had food items donated as well that we put out for people to take. With some Christmas music playing in the background, it is a fitting event to do right before the holidays to give back to a community that supports us throughout the year.

The reason for this GoFundMe page is because we are often asked if we take monetary donations for our event to purchase new coats/etc. The answer is always yes, of course, but in advance of the event. Many kind folks have pulled up to our pop up offering money while we are hosting it, but we kindly decline since the event is already happening and we wouldn't be able to go and purchase more coats at that time.

In 2020 we had around $100 in cash donations and we were able to purchase 8 brand new coats, which was well received.

In the end, we are not asking for cash donations but using this as an option for anyone who would like to donate in monetary form rather than in our coats bins.
This year we will be giving away all of the cold weather gear donated, plus hot cocoa of course, with the addition of free burgers and hotdogs with a grill provided by Rogers Racing Metal Fab and Automotive.
