North Fremantle Football Club Kokoda walk

The North Fremantle Football Club is one of the oldest amateur sporting clubs in Australia. This year, it is celebrating 100 years of being an integral part of the Fremantle community.

 As part of the celebrations and to acknowledge our heritage, a group of past players are walking the Kokoda Track to commemorate this milestone. The Kokoda Track is 100km of trekking through thick jungle up mountains as high as Mount Kosciusko. It will take 9 days to complete and will be a real team effort to finish.

As part of the trip, we want to pay tribute to the young North Fremantle Football Club players who fought in Papua New Guinea during World War Two, some of whom lost their lives fighting for our country.

As part of this, we are raising funds for the club to be used to support a range of community and club initiatives to celebrate the 100 Year anniversary, including building a memorial hut on the trail to honour Arthur Slayford, one of our players who died during the battles of Kokoda. It will be known as “Slayfords Hut” and will also have his jumper hung in it. Each team member is tasked with raising $500 and all donations are welcome. Each trekker is paying their own way, with 100% all funds raised will be to support the club and the nominated causes. Donations of $500 or over will get the individual or company name acknowledged on the teams official shirt and team polos.
