Hello my name is Gabriella Underwood. Recently, I have had the priviledge to work with the softball team from North Dallas High School. Just a little background on North Dallas High School; It has a large number of homeless students and 83% of the enrolled students are financially troubled. I play softball for the University of Dallas. Our softball program held a free camp for their softball team. As I was working the camp, I noticed that a majority of the girls did not have the proper equipment needed to play. Some did not have cleats, most did not have their own gloves, as well as not having their own bats. The money I raise will be used to buy the all girls new cleats. A major thing to have in softball is cleats so you have traction on the dirt and you can play better. Hosting a clinic was great, but for me, I felt the need to do more. Being able to buy all the girls new cleats could possibly help the girls become better players as well as save their families money for more urgent needs. Some of the girls will be attending UD's first home game on Feburary 11, 2018. I hope to have the cleats for them by then so we can give the cleats to them at our game. Seeing the girls smile when they receive their cleats will be such an amazing feeling.
