Hi Everyone !!
My name is Leah Fouchong and I am from the small island of Trinidad and Tobago. I am a Geography Teacher who is passionate about tackling environmental issues and advocating for the adoption of an eco-conscious lifestyle and mindset. I am also an advocate for environmental conservation and have started a facebook group by the name of Changemakers for the Environment.
In pursuit of following my passion, I have successfully passed three rounds of shortlisting and interviews and was selected as one of three hundred participants for Exxpedition Round the World. Exxpedition Round the World is a series of all-female voyages designed to conduct science and raise awareness around plastic pollution and toxins in our oceans. During an expedition, voyage samples are collected to assess plastics and pollutants and investigate the impacts of toxins and plastic pollutants on ecosystem health, personal health and products we consume.
I applied for one of the Caribbean voyages as this voyage will provide me with firsthand information and allow me to further educate and provide awareness to citizens in the Caribbean on how to live in harmony with the marine environment. This voyage is classified as the North Atlantic Gyre and includes Antigua – Bonaire – Aruba – San Blas – Panama – Galapagos – Easter Island. This voyage seeks to set sail on the 23rd of November 2019.
The total contribution towards the voyage is £2000, however, this does not include other expenses such as airfare and accommodation. In order to hold my place on the voyage, I have to make a three quarter downpayment of the total voyage contribution by May 10th 2019. Therefore, any consideration to offset the above expenses would be greatly appreciated.
In exchange for your contribution towards my voyage, I commit to actively participate in sharing my post voyage story and I also look forward to collaborating and sharing the information to proactively seek the change we need in our environment.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!!!! It is greatly appreciated.
