Norma’s Cancer Journey

On August 2018, Norma was detected with a tumor inside of her uterus and diagnosed with Leiomyomata, that lead to a hysterectomy surgery.  After the surgery the gynecologist said everything went well. On May 13th she started having a deep pelvic pain that lead her to the emergency room at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, where after a biopsy it was discovered that she had Leiomyosarcoma, which is a malignant cancer and the tumor was in her pelvis with an additional abscess inside her right liver, that is still needing a biopsy for evaluation. She was admitted to the hospital for 19 days where they performed two different CT scans, an MRI and colonoscopy. The gynecologist/oncologist said she need chemotherapy and then surgery. On May 29th she was released from the hospital with antibiotics and pain killers. Norma has an appointment on June 11th at MD Anderson hospital in Houston, TX for the doctors to check her Leiomyosarcoma and have chemotherapy and surgery. Norma is a loving mother of 2, a wonderful wife and an amazing friend. She is beloved by all who know her and has worked to serve her country.
