Norman's Comeback

Greetings Carter Center Guyana Alumni,
This is my first crowdsourcing experience, so I beg your forgiveness for any faux pas I'm about to commit. First, let me say that this is a personal initiative and has nothing to do with the Carter Center.
I'm writing because your lives have in one way or another been graced by the kind and steady hand of Norman Simpson, a long-time driver of the Carter Center's going back to the '90s. Norman recently coordinated transportation for The Carter Center's 2015 election observation mission and many of you would know him from that period.
Shortly after our election team departed two years ago, Norman was diagnosed with a type of cancer. He had to undergo surgery and months of very painful radiation and chemo therapy as well as months of recovery. The good news is that is behind him now and his doctors have given him a clean bill of health. He is doing better and has worked for me once again since February.
Even though most of his treatment was covered by the Guyana health service, he nevertheless incurred costs and went many months without work. People around him helped get him through, but I know it made a dent in whatever savings he had.
I'm reaching out to his friends to raise funds to help get him back on his feet. The target is arbitrary. Please feel free to donate or not to. I will pass the funds to him in the name of his Carter Center friends over the years. I will cover the various fees. I am leaving on July 22nd and will give him whatever we've raised at that time. Thanks for giving this consideration.
