Norma Stansberry is loved by many.  She is a loving wife and mother to three boys , Ross, Dawson, and Michael; grandmother to two beautiful girls,  Alyna and Angelica, and one young man, David.  Over the years, Norma has been the rock in her family.  She has been known to open her home to anyone in need.  After the passing of her mother, she made sure her brother had a place to live.  She loves animals and has a passion for golf.  She is an incredibly selfless woman and anyone who knows her, adores her.

On Feb. 28, 2017, Norma went in for heart surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, IA.  The surgeons found the condition of her heart to be worse than expected.  They told Norma and her husband, Lee, that she would need to be transferred to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE to have an aortic valve replacment.  She was transferred to the Med Center on Mar. 1st and underwent surgery on Mar. 6th.  Although the valve replacement was successful, Norma suffered a stroke shortly after surgery.  The stroke caused a considerable amount of brain damage and paralysis to the left side of her body.  The doctors expect the paralysis to be permanent but may potentially regain some feeling in her leg.

Norma's battle continued when she underwent surgery again on Mar. 8th to remove part of her skull to help relieve pressure caused by inflammation in her brain.  The next morning, Norma's heart stopped and had to be shocked to get it started again.  Her heart stopped another time and she had to go in for yet another surgery to have a pacemaker put in.

Norma recently had a breathing tube replaced by a trach and appears to be overcoming all of these obstacles.  She is fortunate to have family and support in Omaha, but she has a long road ahead.  Her hospital stay will be lengthly and will eventually be transferred to a rehabilitation facility for long-term physical therapy.

What Norma has been through is life changing.  She will likely be in a wheelchair for the remainder of her life.  She will miss the golf course and probably never swing a club again. Modifications to her home will be necesssary to accomodate her altered physical condition and medical care costs are overwhelming.

First and foremost, we ask for your prayers.  Please pray for a smooth recovery from here on out.  Please pray for Norma's comfort and strength.  Beyond prayer, if you are able to make any monetary donation, to assist with the costs of her medical care and home modifications, please do so.  She will need all the support we can give!
