Nora Julia Gil Fund

This beautiful angel came to visit me this past July from Venezuela to Houston. She is my Aun Nora, sister of my deceased father, and I consider her one of my mothers, as my biological mother passed away when I was 8 years old, and she with unconditional love took care of me along with other of my aunts, rescuing me from death in more than one occasion.
She has just been diagnosed with a malignant Melanoma. And she lives in Venezuela.
You may not know me yet. Let me introduce myself. I am Raquel Cepeda. Jazz singer. A former Geologist, who left her profitable job in the Oil Industry to become a full time musician. I currently live in Houston.
Upon enjoying the wonderful visit of my aunt Nora this past July, while playfully enjoying a casual conversation in her room, I noticed something really strange on the sole of her foot. A large black discoloration and a deep nodule with irregular borders. She had never seen it or been aware of it herself. I feared for some bad news. When she returned to Venezuela, after making a biopsy, the dreadful diagnosis was confirmed. It is a malignant melanoma.
The initial surgery to take the biopsy was not enough to remove the full mass and a second surgery will be necessary to make sure that there is no more malignant tumor cells in her foot. Other tests, including tomographies and lymph node biopsies will be necessary to further investigate if there hasn't been metastasis to other parts of her body. All that needs to happen as soon as possible if she want to have a chance of defeating this health crisis. If confirmed positive, she will need to go through radiation treatment.
Aunt Nora lives in Venezuela, where the situation is critical, with thousands of people fleeing every day to scape the uncontrolled inflation rate, the difficulty to have money to cover your basic necessities, and hospitals that are collapsed and lacking medicines. However, the medical costs are still more accessible than here in the US, and with help from outside, her medical situation could be more manageable. She does not have insurance.
This finding on her health situation has been a shock to all in our family and scapes the ability of her daughters, who still live in Venezuela, to cover her medical expenses entirely due to the difficult economical situation. Even for her family outside Venezuela who are already helping (including me), it is imposible to individually cover the upcoming costs all at once.
We are asking for the support of all the people who have known this beautiful, amazing woman, who has always been there to help and confort others, to help us raise funds to cover the medical expenses associated with her upcoming surgery and medical care.
Please donate as soon as possible, any quantity, no matter how small, counts. We want to get her started on her tests and treatment by next week so that she can have her surgery and treatment as soon as possible.
All the funds will be used for her medical/hospital expenses.
I appreciate immensely taking the time to read this and I thank you for you contribution from the bottom of my heart!
