Nonprofit Rural Community Western Comedy Film
Donation protected
We're Lost Falls Collaborative, a nonprofit independent film production company, and our mission is to give folks in rural and underserved communities experiences and education in film to develop a local film workforce and to provide a platform to tell the stories of those communities.
Up until now, all our projects have been self-funded. Those projects have provided dozens of rural people opportunities to get their feet wet in the film industry, and many of the films have gone on to be accepted at festivals as well as opening for world premiere films at theatres in Spokane.
Right now we're gearing up to film a Western comedy in Republic, WA, which will employ over 30 people in that rural area as well as provide income and exposure to local businesses.
All this takes money, however - so funding is needed to cover equipment rental, accommodations and catering, props and costumes, transportation, insurance, and more.
Lost Falls Collaborative (LFC) was founded one year ago by NE Washington writer and photographer K.S. Brooks (Kat), with local photographer and musician Jon Yarosko, out of frustration with the current film industry scenario - with all educational and employment opportunities only available in Spokane, and production companies unwilling to film in rural areas. This results in highly inconvenient and/or unattainable opportunities to those in rural and remote communities. LFC fills a niche for those in rural areas who would like to be involved, providing experience and training in the industry, making the area(s) more desirable to out-of-town production companies, which also helps the local economies.
By the Brooks Motion Pictures is LFC's comedy label and, through By the Brooks, the cast and crew have created about one short feature each month, honing their crafts in preparation for this feature film. During those efforts, they have provided opportunities in film and film education to dozens of people from Colville, Chewelah, and the surrounding rural and remote areas.
Please help us to bring this feature-film experience to our friends and neighbors in the remote town of Republic! They are so excited - and while they've not had any experience in film before this, they are naturals! This project is going to kick butt, and we are planning on entering it in the Sundance Film Festival for 2025. Help us get there! And - we're going for our 501c3 - if we're approved, that means your donation is tax deductible! If you can't donate right now, please share, and please remember that we can't do it without you.
Thank you so much!
