Thousands of murders remain unsolved in this country because DNA testing is too expensive. With your help, these cases can take a giant step toward being solved.
Despite being staffed by volunteers, we're one of the most creative and aggressive cold case organizations in the U.S. We began in Utah, but are now contacted by families and law enforcement throughout the country. Early on, we learned how much evidence has not undergone DNA testing due to its high cost. We're doing something about it.
We're excited to announce that the Utah Cold Case Coalition will soon offer not-for-profit DNA testing to law enforcement and families in the U.S. Construction of the lab has begun, and qualified DNA personnel have been recruited. The lab will be accredited/certified. This GoFundMe is to purchase testing equipment, such as:
Applied Biosystems 3500 Genetic Analyzer + software ($60,000) (see example below)
Applied Biosystems 9700 Thermal Cycler ($2,000)
ABI 7500 Real-Time QPCR System ($19,000)
(Total equipment + supply costs will be closer to $200,000)
This badly needed service will revolutionize investigation of unsolved murders in the U.S. We are a 501(c)(3) organization; donations are tax-deductible.
