Siamo in uno stato di totale emergenza. Il Coronavirus ha invaso e messo in ginocchio l’Italia intera: ogni giorno crescono i numeri e le restrizioni e, con loro, incertezze, paure e senso d’impotenza.
Tutti siamo coinvolti, è vero, ma stiamo riscoprendo che qualcosa si può sempre fare, per essere d’aiuto. Da chi è colpito direttamente sulla sua salute a chi sarà colpito dai riflessi negativi sull’economia, a chi semplicemente non può girare liberamente o deve cambiare il stile di vita e lavoro, abbiamo riscoperto cosa vuol dire essere una comunità, in difficoltà, in un certo senso isolata, ma una comunità. Nascono ogni giorno, infatti, iniziative di mutuo aiuto e sostegno, piccole e grandi, spesso spontanee ed estemporanee.
Abbiamo riscoperto sia il senso della debolezza che quello della solidarietà.
In questa fase di massima crisi, oltre che reagire ognuno come può nel momento del bisogno, dobbiamo fare di più, serve pensare oggi al domani. Le emergenze richiedono velocità ed efficienza nella risposta e devono essere risolte in tempi brevi. Il futuro si costruisce con lungimiranza, iniziando da subito.
Con #nomoreweakness diciamo che non vogliamo più un futuro con debolezza, un futuro in cui saremo di nuovo costretti a isolarci, in cui ci troveremo impreparati, con poche forze per reagire e ritardo nell’agire.
Vogliamo un Paese con più risorse per la ricerca scientifica e una sanità efficiente che non conti sempre e solo sul coraggio e sulla abnegazione di chi ci lavora. Vogliamo un sistema educativo che prepari i giovani ad essere cittadini maturi in “tempi di crisi” ed un sistema paese che programmi il futuro e non lo subisca.
Lanciamo #nomoreweakness oggi, perché mentre sentiamo in pieno la nostra debolezza e quello che rischiamo di perdere - la salute, la serenità economica - la libertà, e mentre siamo in casa ad aspettare che tutto torni normale, vogliamo prepararci a non dimenticare quello che stiamo vivendo, e a come non viverlo più, in futuro.
Non dobbiamo dimenticare com’è la “vita ai tempi del COVID-19” e dire #nomoreweakness.
Oggi, come cittadini vogliamo un vero passo avanti, vogliamo fare con voi un gesto concreto e coerente per rafforzare le strutture sanitarie nella loro capacità di aiutarci, in futuro, in momenti come questi, e a quella ricerca scientifica che può trovare risposte e assicurarci un domani migliore.
#nomoreweakness è la campagna lanciata da Giovanni e Andrea, con il sostegno di Fondazione Homo Ex Machina e EasyFundraising per rispondere all’emergenza pensando al domani.

Our country, Italy, is in a state of emergency. The number of people infected by Covid-19 has been rising every day and so anxiety, fears and a sense of helplessness. We are wounded and weary.
Because we are all in this together, we are also realising that there is so much that can be done to help going through this rough time. With a population of 60 million people under lockdown and most people confined at home unable to work if not in intensive care at the hospital, we have been forced to rediscover what a community is really about.
It’s amazing to see people in Italy, Europe and across the globe coming together to help each other in this time of crisis, and taking part in both big and small fundraising efforts.
#nomoreweakness is our campaign to respond to this emergency, but also to look ahead at future emergencies.
With #nomoreweakness we believe in a future in which we will not feel weak and vulnerable, in which we will not be confined to our homes and separated from our loved ones, in which we will not find ourselves unprepared and overwhelmed to handle an emergency of any magnitude.
We want a country with adequate financial and human resources for scientific research and with a more efficient healthcare system, that does not rely only on the extraordinary sacrifices of our doctors and nurses. We want an education system that prepares our youth to act responsibly in times of crisis and a country that acts so we do not suffer the future, but we define it.
On top of individual initiatives, it's in the time of a crisis that we, collectively, must do more: today we need to think about tomorrow.
We do not want to forget what life is like in the time of COVID-19 and we say #nomoreweakness!
Today, as citizens and fundraisers who want to take an active part in shaping their country's future, we want to make an immediate and concrete gesture, with your help, in order to strengthen our healthcare system for delivering high quality and readily accessible medical service in the future, in moments like these, and to support scientific research in finding solutions to the challenges facing humanity and building a better future for all of us.
For this reason, all funds raised with this initiative will be transferred to the National Institute for Infectious Diseases Lazzaro Spallanzani in Rome, in support to scientific research and to be better prepared for future challenges.
Every donation and flow will be recorded and transparent to all.
