Help our teacher with medical costs

Donation protected
This is Mr. Timothy Nolan, our calculus teacher. He started out his mathematical journey with a mechanical engineering degree. He was able to pursue his passion and he worked for 11 years designing Xerox machines. After those 11 years, he opened a dry cleaning store which he continued to work for 12 years. His wife had been teaching for sometime and inspired by her, he decided to start teaching. “I want to be remembered and give something back to society.” This sole motivation to make an impact on others led him to the teaching profession. He started out as a middle school teacher and moved to teaching high school so he could use his knowledge to its fullest extent. This is a story of what he has accomplished. Now I want to tell you about what he has experienced.

Timothy was first diagnosed with cancer in 1991. As with any cancer, shock is the first reaction. Tim was in shock, his hell on earth had been actualized. This cancer went away through treatment. In 2004, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and again through treatment he beat this. 2 years ago in May 2016, he was diagnosed with melanoma and for a 3-peat, he beat it again. 2 months later it was back and he beat it for the 4th time. Last week, Tim went to the doctors for a checkup for a suspected melanoma. He's also in need of hearing aids. His medical costs have skyrocketed and us as high schoolers wish to do everything in our power. His passion for teaching and his drive to improve our future means that we must help in anyway we can. We’re asking that you donate any amount you can. We want to reach a goal of $25,000 but the general goal is to raise money to cover his costs. A teaching salary is hardly enough for that.

Mr. Nolan also has a profound love for Star Wars and memes. I think this is one of the reasons he is able to teach so well, that connection to his students makes him a rarity. Everyday his laptop has a new meme as the wallpaper. We'll joke around and when things get too quiet, someone will say something to keep the energy up. Coming to class everyday is a blessing and we're all very proud to call him our teacher.
