No-Cost Student Desk Program

When our Agawam Lions team set out to make no-cost student desks for Agawam students, we had a humble goal of fabricating 20 desks. A mere 12 hours after publishing our sign-up form on our Agawam Lions Facebook page, we had over 150 requests for desks!
Our Commitment: EVERY student that requests a desk will have one. No child or teen will be turned away.
But we cannot do this alone. We invite you to join us in this unprecedented project for our students - never before has there been a project of this size with so much at stake.
MANY parents, teaching staff, counselors and administrators have sent heartfelt messages to our team sharing personal accounts of how difficult and challenging the learning journey has been; and how this has affected all involved, both emotionally and academically. These words have brought an entirely new and deeper meaning to our project.
The Plan:
- The Agawam Lions have partnered with our local Home Depot district, which has provided us with affordable materials to begin the build, but we have many more desks to fabricate.
- We have committed (3) experienced, Lions members with woodworking and fabrication experience to the project.
- The first (80) desks will be distributed January 9th; the next (70) desks will be distributed January 23rd; all remaining 'wait list' desks will be distributed in February (date TBD).
Our students have been tasked with learning in an incredibly challenging way during an unprecedented pandemic. Let's show them that their community has their back and that we are invested in this journey with them.
Any funding raised beyond our initial goal will be utilized to refresh and/or provide school supplies for our students in need.
