I am asking for your help to support the Nob Hill Neighborhood Association's effort to protect our historic character and community.
The Albuquerque Planning Department continues to approve commercial development projects along Central Ave in Nob Hill that do not meet current zoning code and sector plan standards and will not meet zoning in the new Integrated Development Ordinance (IDO), either. The NHNA is in the process of appealing two of these recent decisions:
1.) The project on the corner of Aliso and Copper is an apartment building which exceeds the height and story limits in our sector plan.
2.) The project on the corner of Central Ave and Montclaire is a self-storage facility approved as a permissive use instead of a conditional use requiring a public hearing process.
The Planning Department has received numerous complaints and they still refuse to enforce their own zoning code.
The NHNA is raising funds to pay for legal costs to hold the Planning Department accountable. The appeals will be heard by City Council in the next 6-8 weeks. If City Council does not make the Planning Department comply, the next step would be to take the case to District Court.
