My name is Nikki Bond. I am initiating this gofundme page on behalf of my 20-year-old son, Noah Bouchard.
Early Wednesday morning, 8/9, Noah was assaulted outside of his apartment in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was stabbed in the back, immediately injuring his lung. The assailant tried to stab him again, however Noah was miraculously able to stand and run towards people in the distance, causing the assailant to flee.
Noah called his friend and girlfriend who were inside his apartment and they drove him to nearby Memorial Hospital where tubes were inserted through his side to drain the blood that kept filling his lung. He was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital where the outlook was initially grim. It was confirmed that Noah had a pulmunary contusion and surgery was necessary to remove the damaged piece of his lung. The surgery went well and Noah began to improve.
By Wednesday afternoon, the assailant was arrested. By Thursday afternoon, the assailant's two accomplices were also arrested. All three have been before a judge and all three returned to either the Adult Correctional Institution or the Rhode Island Training School.
Although Noah lives in RI, he works in Attleboro, MA, and is not eligible for any form of temporary disability insurance--even privately through his employer as a host at Olive Garden. Noah has mostly held 2 jobs over the past year and a half and just recently signed up for courses at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI). Noah has almost saved enough for an inexpensive vehicle as he's been completely dependent on public transportation. Our family will be trying to make sure he gets to and from respiratory therapy and any counseling services that are set up for him.
What we hope for: Noah was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a young teenager. Noah hopes to gain sufficient mental health counseling to heal from this most recent tragedy. We also hope that Noah will be able to attend all of his respiratory therapy appointments and be able to take the time to heal properly. Noah is determined to stick with his plan to begin fall classes at CCRI. We would like to support this venture and feel it would contribute to his feeling of wellbeing. Ideally, we would like Noah to be able to focus on healing and attending the fall semester without having to worry too heavily on how he will pay his rent or bills. We would also like to support Noah in having a vehicle of his own so that he may be more independent and able to move forward with working and school in the future with the least barriers possible.
We know that many of you may not be able to give financially, and so we ask that you would pray for Noah that he will heal both mentally and physically and be able to start over after this tragedy. Please keep our son in your thoughts and prayers and we will update progress on this page moving forward.
