No Wahala Magazine: Safe Place (Issue 1)

No! Wahala Magazine is a free print photography magazine championing authentic visual stories by African Creatives. It is one of the first magazines within Africa focusing solely on contemporary photography.

The magazine was founded in early 2020 by Anne Alagbe, a Visual Communications Specialist and Documentary Photographer.  She saw a huge issue around 'Representation', 'Othering', the 'Western gaze' and other ethical issues within the global photography industry, especially pertaining to some INGO's and News publication's coverage of Africa; that a form of colonization still exists, except this time, with a lens. There are many talented African lens-based storytellers within Africa, however, only a few are seen; We are set out to change this.

We will be publishing our first issue 'Safe Place' in November 2020 and will be needing a little support to make this a reality. Funds raised will primarily go towards covering the cost of printing, promotions, distribution and other administrative costs. Additionally, we will be supporting our amazing volunteers and talents with a stipend for all of their hard work.

We are grateful for whatever amount you choose to donate. It will go a long way and we will publish the names of all our donors with a special thank you in our magazine.
