Local residents are fighting plans by Egdon Resources and Europa Oil &amp; Gas to drill a stone’s throw from people’s homes and just 800m from the iconic North York Moors National Park.

<div>The companies want to carry out a proppant squeeze, a form of hydraulic fracturing that evades the fracking moratorium, but nonetheless still injects fluid to fracture the rock and allow trapped gas to flow to the surface.

And there is a significant risk to nature, given the close proximity to the National Park, a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) and a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI).
