No Propane, electricity, insulation

URGENT NEED!!!

During the last two weeks, Tiyospaye has been recieving  urgent requests for help with propane on the Pine Ridge Reservation, due to harsh snow storms expected to arrive in their area.  The first siege of the bad weather was about a week and a half ago.  Another is expected tonight and will last for the next two days.

We responded as quickly as we could and in the last two weeks four women have been able to reach out to their FB friends and families and get propane delivered to 12 homes. Pilamayaye tanka (big thank you) to the 10 strong heart people whose kindness has brought warmth to the families in those homes. Each home averages 8 members with our focus being the Lakota elders, some with disabilities...as well as single moms with children.  A total of 96 people will stay warm through the freezing times on Pine Ridge.  Tiyospaye Winyan Maka has reliable, trustworthy contacts in Wounded Knee, Slim Buttes, and Pine Ridge Village, and we are continuing to reach out to make sure that there is propane in each tank of the housing list each sent us.

Many more donations are needed to ensure that not one more Lakota dies "in their homes" of hypothermia due to lack of propane.  The price for minimal propane delivery to one family has gone down from $180 to $170 since Friday.  Yaaaay!  So PLEASE, dig deep and offer what you can. Any amount will be deeply appreciated by so many.
