Reaching out for help can be one of the most daunting things a person can do.
In the case of our father, he flat out refuses.
Due to a brain injury many years ago, my father experiences bouts of psychosis frequently. His ramblings & at home situation have become very alarming. These bouts of terrible mental illness make holding down a job very difficult. Due to this, his heat and electricity are currently disconnected. With the freezing Canadian winter fast approaching, we are extremely concerned for his safety in a heat free home.
I am estimating each disconnected bill to be around 300-400$ with added reconnecting fees. We are scraping every dollar between his three daughters, however, we are finding ourselves falling short of our goal of reconnecting the utilities entirely.
We do have a long-term plan in action to help him achieve some financial assistance, however, it is a lengthy process at the best of times & we are not dealing with the BEST of times. With the temperatures dropping frantically over night, we worry endlessly.
We deeply appreciate any assistance that you lovely souls can offer, as time is of the essence.
