Francois' Story
My brother, Francois, was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) in 2008 at the age of 18. MG is an autoimmune disease that impacts the body’s ability to trigger muscle contractions, leading to varying degrees of muscle weakness. Francois' journey with MG has not been easy -although he has undergone small periods of remission, he is currently struggling with long periods of muscular fatigue and frustration.
Francois will be turning 28 this year, which will mark his 10th year living with MG. As a successful engineer, MBA graduate and business owner, Francois has not let his disease define his life. He is however, constantly undergoing new treatment in hopes of becoming MG free.
Although significant clinical research efforts are underway by the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America , no treatment has yet been successful in curing this chronic disease. They are getting close, and funding is needed to ensure ongoing research is continued!
The fundraiser
On April 22nd, myself Genevieve Renaud-Byrne, and my good friend Karine Wachman, will be running the RUN our SHORE Half Marathon in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia to raise funds for clinical research at the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America. Please show your support and donate to our team!
