Hurricane Irma destroyed everything and   left a mess

Hi everybody,

my name is Jessica Bohnhorst, part of The Island Last Resort   "A tiny little Sustainable &
Eco-Friendly Island in BVI.
Restaurant, Bar, Island Museum,
Live Music & Over Night
Mooring Balls, fun for charter
guests & all visitors."

Everybody heard what desaster Hurricane Irma caused in the Carribbean. The nights and days of the 7.-9. September were horrible and terrrifying for the people on the islands. And the fear is not over. Now the real hard times begin. Chaos, destruction, violence, fear, hunger, no electricity, limited water and food, loss of existences, homes and villages destroyed, left without communication and the basic necessities of life, desperate for help to come .. It’s a desaster.

Luckily there are lots of people who support and help with all their heart.

Now to my project.. well it’s not only me, it’s a whole family who needs your help.

We’re collecting money for „The Island Last Resort“ a place with history and memories, a place where people found together, worked together and had fun together. Right now after Hurricane Irma this place is history. Nothing is left, everything is destroyed. The only thing that stayed are our memories and our love for this place and its owner, who needs support to keep Last Resort alive. I’m speaking for many many people, who either lived here, worked here, partied here,.. it includes all of us who have been touched,changed and blessed during our time on Last Resort/in the bvi, now we are all suffering together

Where do we go from here?  Too much love and memories to abandon Last Resort. With the help of all of us together we will bring support and move forward, each day, together in spirit, with love and hard work, we must bring back our Island, our Last Resort. We have to help our friend Brian Duff, who always helps others, who is always generous and hard working, a team player with a great spirit. We have to stick together to save his existence, his past and his dream. All the work he has done with help from many people from many places. We have to bring back this magical place to make memories again, to make a place where people are happy and where people are sharing their happiness.

In the next months, years we need to rebuild a whole restaurant and homes.  The island had generators and a watermaker, solarpanels, houses, kichen, bathrooms and lot of individuality. over two years work are gone. To rebuild everything we need money. Money for everything that’s lost,and that’s basicly everything I mentioned and more.. If everybody just supports us with a few dollars and shares the project , we hopefully can get the amount of money we need ,very fast.  
Things we need the money for right now are : to replace generators, batteries, solar panels, tools, roofs, kitchen equipment, computers, ipads, dock, moorings, and cover labor costs for all this as well..  
We need to start now.

I will keep you updated with pictures and descriptions of anything that’s happening here and where the money goes. And hopefully we will be able to get together here again. Maybe it becomes an even better place with lots lots of history.. from pirates and their partys, over full moon, new years and christmas celebrations , destruction by hurricanes and rebuilding..

Last Resort was a place where people from different countries with different backgrounds and ages met.Here's a text about Last Resort from Marie, 20, from France:
"The Island Last Resort is a restaurant/bar with excellent food in a chill atmosphere; live rock and roll music, chairs in wood, soft lighting all together to make a great ambiance. In fact, this activity creates a real community on the island with a part of the staff and some volunteers living together.
The Island is not just the location of the business, but it is also the place of accommodation for many of the employees
All these staff, range in age from 45 to 18 years old, can live on the island at any time and these people coming from all backgrounds of life and many nations around the world. This creates a very interesting living environment, as all these people with all their different experiences are here with the common goal to run the business, and in doing so they make a sustainable lifestyle for themselves, all on this tiny island.
In and among this environment, the owner, Brian also lives on the island.
While this applies to all businesses for sure, most businesses have staff which leave to their own lives, and then return to complete jobs for the business before leaving again. Here on this small island, for many of the staff the work is their whole life, or a majority of it.
Small business is really important to the culture of any community and the community around the business also very important to shaping its culture as well. The people working in a small island business have a way of integrating their lives into the company and the company into their lives such that in many ways the work is the life and the life the work, and with a company having a good arrangement for its employees and good culture these people can have a truly positive life in a truly united community."
