The Lonesome Doves: Full-Length Album, Pre-Surgery

Hi everybody, this is Shaye Cohn. I play cornet in and lead the band Tuba Skinny. I'm organizing this gofundme campaign for our vocalist, Erika Lewis. In addition to singing with Tuba Skinny, Erika also writes songs and performs them occasionally as The Lonesome Doves. Since moving away from New Orleans, she's been slowly working towards the goal of writing and recording a full length studio album and had finally planned to make that a reality this fall. When Covid and quarantine hit, those plans were firmly put on hold.

Recently she found out that she will need to have thyroid surgery which runs the risk of vocal chord damage, or rather, damage to the nerves controlling the vocal chords, and the ability to control pitch, etc, indefinitely.

Of course, we are hoping for the best possible outcome. But, we are also here in hopes of supporting and encouraging her to make the album as originally planned in the event that she is unable to do so in the future.

There are many costs involved in the process including five days of studio rental, tape rental, hiring musicians, travel expenses, sound engineering, mixing, production, etc. We are hoping to raise $15,000 to cover all these expenses. We also plan to donate 15% of funds raised to 2 youth centered organizations: Kite's Nest in Hudson, NY, and BreakOUT! in New Orleans.
