Help Give Hope to Jacob
Donation protected
This fundraiser is about Jacob Omidbakhsh. Jacob is a happy 5 month old infant who was recently diagnosed with Menkes Syndrome. Menkes is a rare genetic disease that affects roughly 1 out of 250,000 children. It affects a gene that codes for a protein that regulates copper in Jacob's body. Jacob's body is unable to deliver copper to his vital organs such as his brain. There are rare cases where Menkes sufferers do graduate high school but most do not make it to their 3rd birthday.
This diagnosis is devastating to Jacob's family and friends. I have known Jacob's father since we were children. He is my best friend. My goal is to raise awareness for this disease and to contribute to research for a cure. Dr Stephen Kaler is currently one of the leading researchers in the field and any contribution made will go directly to his lab. I hope that knowing people are contributing towards research will provide at the very least a temporary repreive from the challenges the Omidbakhsh family has to face.
Thank you!
