wheelchair

On May 5th, 2016 I fell 30 feet and severely injured both my left leg , ankle, and foot and crushed my right foot.  Due to a nameless doctor I spent the first year with complete nonunion of the broken tibia in my left leg. I have been recovering  slowly since surgery on April 22, 2017  that finally joined the broken bone . I can stand and walk a few feet with a walker but it looks like I will be using a wheelchair for the foreseeable future.  Hindsight tells me if I was going to screw up my life like this I should have done it when I was 18 and healed much quicker.  Anyway I live in Florida because the ocean is my life and my true connection with the creator of this beautiful planet. Being in the ocean always healed my mental state even if it broken a few toes that got caught in a windsurfer strap. At 68 it is difficult dealing with a recovery that keeps stretching into the future. I truly need to get back in the ocean to continue my healing. I was hoping to be windsurfing again by now but I would be so happy just to stand in chest high water and be able to walk without pain as far as I wanted to. I have been out on the jetty at Fort Pierce in my current wheelchair and my sweet, thoughtful wife has volunteered to push me off the end of the jetty into the ocean. Well OK- maybe not volunteered so much as plotted. In any event I know I can count on her help if I need it. My current wheelchair tends to get stuck if I get off a paved surface. My wife has actually put a tow rope on the wheelchair and retrieved me from the yard with the Subaru. Fortunately I learned a lesson from my kiteboarding friends and always carry a knife for safety.  I was able to cut the the rope before she dragged me over 200 feet. I really need to not get stuck anymore and I am hoping that being able have a way to cross the sand and get to the ocean. I am hoping that getting in the ocean again will turn the tide on my ever so slow healing process. There is an all terrain wheelchair on Ebay at about half of the price of a new one. I don't think it will be there long. The Ebay auction # is 253423393178 if you want to look at it. I am hoping that with the help of my friends that would like to see me walk again, and those that might be intrigued at the thought of me possibly drowning  in the ocean, I will be able to purchase this wheelchair and take the "next step" to regaining my life. Thanks to everyone who has helped me through these difficult times in my life.
