REWARD FOR ALPHA'S KILLER !
Alpha was a long time resident and patriarch of the Grenville, Quebec feral cat colony. According to one of the colony caretakers Alpha was estimated to be between 10 - 12 years old. Though our low-cost sterilization program we had him neutered, vaccinated and treated for parasites such as fleas, worms and ear mites. Our goal was to work with him to rehabilitate him and socialize him but with so many cats rescued from the colony we simply didn't have the time to work with him and the other feral cats so we decided that seeing how Alpha was not happy in captivity that we decided to return him to his colony where he would have his freedom and would continue to be well fed and would have a dry warm shelter in the winter time. He walked the streets and survived for years without any worries, but on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 Alpha's life would come to an end.
Alpha was shot (in a residential area where there are small children) with a practice arrow right through the spine and he was left paralyzed in his hind legs and suffering in agony. The photo shows the pain and fear in his eyes. When a friend of mine saw the posting on FaceBook she contacted me right away and we headed out immediately to find him. Witnesses said he was found crawling and dragging himself on the front lawn of one of their neighbors who managed to pick him up and before putting him in a carrier he managed to cut both ends of the arrow and put them aside. Unfortunately Alpha managed to escape the carrier and was found hours later hiding under the man's garage. Drag marks in the sand and gravel showed us where he was hiding. Another man came to help search for Alpha and with his determination he finally managed to get Alpha out from under the garage and carried him to my friends car where he was wrapped in a towel and laid down on top of a small blue tarp. The 20 minute drive to the vet clinic was to be his last although it must have felt like a lifetime until the vet tech took him out of my arms and rushed him into the examination room where they administered a pain killer to rid him of the pain while preparing him for euthanasia. Because of the Covid-19 virus pandemic I had to wait near the reception counter for the vet tech to bring out his lifeless body in a body bag so that we could give him a proper burial. Alpha was neutered and vaccinated just last year so his days of adding to the overpopulation crisis ended leaving him to live live a happier, healthier life with less stress until the day his life was savagely taken from him!!
We will never forget that painful look in his eyes as if he was asking us "Why?", but we can't answer his question until we bring his killer to justice. That is why we would like to offer a $1,000.00 REWARD for information leading us to the person responsible for doing this to and innocent cat who was simply doing what came natural to him and that was walking. Please help us to find Alpha's killer so that this does not happen again to any other innocent animal so that his death will not be in vain so that he can finally rest in peace.
