Help Save Peggy Lucerini
I am almost 64 years old . I was perfectly healthy until last summer. I was working full time as a nurse. My husband worked hard his whole life, and is now on disability. It was hard then to make ends meet. We have raised our 8 year old grandson since he was 8 months old. We were planning on one nice vacation for him for the first time this summer but this will not be possible for now. I am asking for help as I have recently been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease which has attacked my bone marrow (eosinophilia fasciitis). I now will need a bone marrow transplant to survive. I will now need Cobra health insurance which will cost a minimum of 1300 dolllars a month. I am applying for social security and disability. My monthly income will be obviously greatly reduced when I go on social security and disability.
I will not be eligible for Medicare until I turn 65. This does not count in the travel, lodging , food etc. needed as my procedure is in a city not close by. I also need hearing aides to help with the transition of surgery and recovery. My grandson is taking all of this very hard ( I was already hospitalized for 2 and 1/2 months this Spring. ) I hate to see him uprooted from the home we worked so hard for. Thanks in advance for any contributions and mercy shown to me and my family.
